FAQ

Why send an email?

The SPF record is public. We need the message so we can see which server delivered it and whether that server is on the list.

What does an SPF pass mean?

A pass means the server that delivered this mail is on the SPF list for the return-address domain. That is the behind-the-scenes address the sending server used. It can differ from the From line people see. A pass is not the same as alignment.

What does SPF alignment mean?

Alignment means the return-address domain and the visible From address share the same main domain. mail.example.com and example.com count as a match.
